Nigerian basketball player Michael Ojo , a former Belgrade Red Star , died Friday at the age of 27 in the Serbian capital during individual training , the club said.
"We are very saddened by this news," said Igor Vujcin, a club spokesman, without specifying the reasons for the death. According to the Serbian press, Ojo died of a heart attack .
This Lagos-born 2.16 center was trained in the United States at Florida State University from 2012 to 2017. After he was not chosen in the draft, he signed in 2017 with FMP Zeleznik Belgrade for a year and then defended during two campaigns the colors of the Red Star, where he became one of the fans' favorites .
