On September 10, the NFL season 2020-21 starts. Due to the corona pandemic, the players themselves have had to choose whether they want to play this season or not, and when the time limit for making a decision on the issue yesterday expired, it was clear that as many as 66 players had chosen to drop out.

None of the biggest stars, such as Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady, were on the list of players who turned down games - but there were still a lot of well-known players.

"Supports them"

The vast majority of players who declined were in the big team New England Patriots, which won the Super Bowl as late as 2018. There, as many as six players have chosen to abstain, including Danny Vitale who was recruited from the Green Bay Packers before the season, and the double Super Bowl- champion Brandon Bolden.

- Everyone has to make decisions and I have talked to all these guys and they have explained their situations. They had to make the decision that was best for them and I fully respect their decision and support them 100 percent, says Patriots coach Bill Belichick, according to CBS.

Thanked no because of mom

The reigning champions Kansas City Chief lose "only" three players, but their loss is still likely to be felt, as two key players from last season chose not to participate: Damien Williams (who made a touchdown in the Super Bowl last season) and Laurent Duvernay-Tardif , and rookie Lucas Niang.

Williams chose to say no because his mother has been diagnosed with cancer, which is considered a risk factor for covid-19.

- As an organization, we fully understand and respect Damien's choice, as we know that it was done with his family's interest first. He means a lot to our team as a player and person, and we will miss having him with us this season, said club general manager Brett Veach when the decision was announced last week.
