It was a departure expected for several weeks. It is now official. French international striker Valérie Gauvin, under contract until June 2021 with Montpellier, will join English club Everton, the Hérault club announced on Thursday. The 24-year-old Reunionese has been playing in Montpellier since 2014, after six seasons spent at her training club in Toulouse.

I am happy to announce that I am leaving for a new adventure in England, in the Everton club!

Gauvin (31 caps), who brilliantly played in the 2019 World Cup with Les Bleues and scored 14 goals in 16 matches this season, is the second international from Montpellier after defender Sakina Karchaoui, who signed for Lyon. Everton ended the last British Championship in 6th place, interrupted due to the coronavirus pandemic.
