Nine infected players in Strasbourg

RC Strasbourg announced on Tuesday the detection of 4 new cases of Covid-19 among its players, bringing the number of infected players to nine. Racing, which had already canceled a friendly match on Saturday against Nancy, the supporters' day on Sunday at the La Meinau stadium and another friendly on Tuesday against Dijon, gave up a third preparatory match initially scheduled for Saturday against Reims.

Montpellier, which played a friendly match last week against Strasbourg, discovered a potential case in its squad on Monday and also canceled its preparation match against Marseille scheduled for Wednesday. Last week, FC Nantes had announced the contamination of five employees of its professional group, after the first three cases, including a player, midfielder Marcus Coco, revealed last week.

New guidelines this week

At the same time, the L1 clubs are awaiting the health protocol which should enable them to be able to accommodate 5,000 spectators in the stadiums, or even more by prefectural exemption, in accordance with the decision taken by the government and valid until August 31.

"The LFP participated last Thursday in a meeting with the prefect Denis Robin, director of the interministerial crisis commission (CIC), as well as the Ministry of Sports and the Ministry of Health" on this subject, specifies the League. “The CIC underlined the quality of the health guides handed over by the Sports Leagues on June 15 to the Ministry of Sports. Following this meeting, the public authorities must return to the LFP this week, ”she concludes.
