Clubs expressed their opposition to the demand of other clubs to include "voting weight" in the statute of a group of collective and individual gaming federations, in preparation for the upcoming elections. These clubs, through their officials ’talk to« Emirates Today », that“ voting weight ”causes a distinction between clubs, and violates the Olympic Charter, which requires a fair participation of all clubs represented in each union separately, without excluding some of them on the basis of“ voting weight ” ».

The "voting weight" symbolizes the distinction between clubs on the basis of the percentage of their participation in the local championships of a particular local federation, meaning that each club gets a certain number of points against the percentage of its participation in the competitions. This may give more voting weight to clubs at the expense of others that do not participate in specific competitions, or are limited to one category and not another, especially as it may depend on the budgets that empower clubs to participate other than clubs that suffer financially.

The issue of "voting weight" has become controversial in the clubs' discussions, or the workshops organized by the different unions, which witnessed a major objection from a number of clubs in many unions.

The executive director of Al Wasl Club, the head of the election committee in several individual games federations, Mohammed Al-Amri, stressed that "the voting weight" is in violation of the International Olympic Charter, which stipulates that clubs should not be differentiated for any reason.

He said, “I will not be happy, as Al Wasl Club, to get 15 points for my participation in a federation’s competitions, and for another club to get 10 points, just because it is unable to participate in all competitions. There are other methods, for example, that may be adopted after the next elections, and in subsequent years, by establishing regulations in the statute, which give the right to vote in any general assembly of clubs that participate constantly, while others have the right to attend only ».

The “voting weight” is unjust

Hamriyah bin Ghadeer, a member of the Hamriyah Club Board of Directors, considered that adopting the voting weight in the elections of the individual federations would be unjust. He said: "This matter creates a distinction between clubs, based on their financial strength and capabilities." He continued: «I talked a lot with members who demanded the application of this system, and indeed they were convinced of the point of view calling for the lack of distinction between clubs.

He also said: “A club may have the ability to exchange and another that does not have, and there are clubs with 50 players in one game, and I only have 20, and of course that the application of this decision will be injustice, and even the list system I see is not healthy, and will not benefit unions, and the best Maintaining the current system. ”

Reference of international laws

Ajman Club CEO, Nasser Al-Dhafari, called for the necessity of relying on Olympic and international laws in the upcoming elections, explaining that violating these regulations may affect foreign participation. Al-Dhafari said: "The International Sports Federation or the Olympic Committee may give some privacy to local federations, in order to formulate its method of work in a manner commensurate with its situation, but adherence to international laws based on non-discrimination, otherwise it is a good thing, and is necessary for federations for external participation."

Al-Ghailani: We retracted it after we were convinced of the idea of opposition clubs

The island's swimming supervisor, Juma Al-Ghailani, confirmed that they demanded that the club apply the voting weight, because we felt that it might do justice to the clubs that have swimming teams for youth, women and water polo, but after discussing the matter with a number of opposing clubs, we were convinced of their idea and retreated from the voting weight, and that that There may be a distinction between clubs.

Al-Ghailani said: "We are currently confused about applying the voting weight and not applying it, but in general we will ask clubs to participate in tournaments as they were able, during the next four years, and give an opportunity to correct their conditions for the strength of the championships."
