Jan Riedmann, a rider from the Under 19 team of BORA-hansgrohe, passed away at the age of seventeen. The young German was involved in a training accident last weekend.

According to foreign media, Riedmann was hit by a car on Saturday in Sugenheim, South Germany. The 58-year-old driver would not have given him priority.

Riedmann sustained serious head injuries in the accident. He was immediately transferred to a hospital in Wurzburg, but doctors were no longer able to save his life.

As a tribute to Riedmann, the riders of BORA-hansgrohe, including Peter Sagan, will be wearing a black ribbon on their jersey at Milan-San Remo on Saturday.
