This is what it looked like if we looked at the basic series table from the western conference before this Play in series in the best of five.

Thus, many already in the first match had Predators as favorites. But it was Arizona that connected the grip by winning the first battle.

Arizona's Swedish team captain and fullback Oliver Ekman-Larsson started the scoring after eight minutes of play. Ekman-Larsson shot from the backfield and the puck bounced on Nashville star Matt Duschene and into his own goal.

With three seconds left in the first period, Fredrik Forsberg reduced for Nashville. This after Arizona in just under 16 minutes went up to a reassuring 3-0 lead.

Forsberg also scored the last goal of the match when the Predators started to eat their way into the match, but closer than Forsberg's other goal which meant 4-3 to Arizona, they did not come.

In total, there were seven Swedes on the ice in the match. In Nashville we also saw Viktor Arvidsson, Mattias Ekholm and Calle Järnkrok. At the same time, Niklas Hjalmarsson and Carl Söderberg also fought for Arizona. None of these were noted for any score.
