She debuted on the LPGA Tour in February. When the ladies' US tour in golf restarted in Toledo, Ohio, after the corona break, Linnéa Johansson showed that she is there to stay.

The 26-year-old, who is doing his first year on the tour, did the best of the Swedes, together with Anna Nordqvist, both in pairs, and is in a shared 19th place.

- It was fantastic fun, absolutely. It felt like it was a while ago, it's fun to get the chance to compete again, says Linnéa Johansson.

Like many other sports, the LPGA Tour resumed without an audience.

- It is clearly a little different not to have an audience at all. It's basically just players and caddies, she says and continues:

- But I do not think the players think about it that much, because you are in your bubble and are focused on your. Everyone was probably just very happy to compete again.

"Could have been better"

Sweden's Nordqvist mixed and gave with three birdies and as many bogeys, while Johansson, ranked 443rd in the world and "only" 15th highest in Sweden, was disturbed by a double bogey on the tenth hole.

- It is clear that you can always find a little kind here and there that could have been better. But absolutely, one under par is good and I take with me what went well into tomorrow (Saturday), says Johansson.

Båstadspelaren has spent the corona break both in the USA and in Sweden, where she has tried to train as best she can and stay healthy.

She is therefore difficult to say what her form really is, and the expectations for the rest of the weekend are very much about gaining experience and doing her best. And the track in Toledo is far from a soft start.

- It is a tough track, quite narrow in some places with many hard ruffs around bunkers. And very fast and hard greens. So it is important to play strategically, both from the tee and onto the green. It is a challenge, and tough conditions, but a great golf course and many fantastic holes. It's great fun to come back and play the first competition and get a real challenge.

Six strokes to Kang

Up to leading home player Danielle Kang, there are six strokes. After the round, Kang described her game as consistent, and talked about the feeling of playing without an audience, which might benefit her.

- But I really like the fans. Today it was very calm. I'm pretty sure it's because the fans are not around. I also really love when there is a lot of roaring, she says according to AFP.

For Sweden's Madelene Sagström, it was all the more difficult, with a shared 28th place, one over par. Louise Ridderström is one stroke ahead.

Linnea Ström went the round at four over par, while Pernilla Lindberg is at seven over.

The LPGA Tour did not have time to play more than four competitions in January and February before the corona pandemic stopped.
