Infantino is suspected of crimes after his association with the controversial Swiss prosecutor Michael Lauber, who previously investigated suspected corruption in top football and Fifa's chairman is now being investigated by prosecutors in case prosecution is to be brought.

However, the Swiss denies the allegations.

"For me, it is clear that Fifa's ethics council must launch an investigation into Mr Infantino and suspend him," Sepp Blatter told Reuters.

Blatter was chairman of Fifa from 1998 to 2015. He was forced to resign due to a corruption scandal and was suspended from all football for eight years the same year. The investigation is still ongoing against the former chairman.
