Nathan Aké is close to a transfer to Manchester City. According to various English media, the number two of the last Premier League season has agreed with Bournemouth on a transfer fee of 45 million euros for the Orange international.
Aké, 25, still has to reach a personal agreement with City, but that seems to be a matter of time. The central defender, who can also play left back, has been a major force at Bournemouth for the past three seasons, relegating to the Championship last weekend. His contract with 'The Cherries' runs until mid-2022.
Born in The Hague, he previously played in the top of the Premier League for Chelsea, which took him over from Feyenoord as a youth player. He did get occasional play time at Stamford Bridge, but a breakthrough failed to materialize. 'The Blues' rented it to Reading, Watford and Bournemouth, followed by the final move to Bournemouth in 2017.
When the transfer from Aké to City is completed, he is the fourth most expensive Dutch player ever. Only more was paid for Virgil van Dijk (in 2018 for 84.5 million euros to Liverpool), Frenkie de Jong (in 2019 for 75 million euros to FC Barcelona) and Matthijs de Ligt (in 2019 for 75 million euros to Juventus).

Aké was injured in recent weeks
Aké can become the tenth Dutchman ever to play for Manchester City in the Premier League, which was founded in 1992. Paul Bosvelt, Alfons Groenendijk, Danny Hoekman, Kiki Musampa, Karim Rekik, Michel Vonk, Ronald Waterreus, Gerard Wiekens and Nigel de Jong already played for the 'Citizens' at the highest level.
The past few weeks, Aké did not play for Bournemouth due to an injury and he was therefore not on the field on Sunday when the club relegated despite a 1-3 win at Everton. In total, Aké, who made his debut for Chelsea in December 2012, played 146 Premier League games, scoring twelve times.
Aké is usually a banker with the Dutch national team. In 2017, he made his international debut against Morocco and now the counter stands at thirteen duels and two goals for the Orange.
