IPC = International Paralympic Committee warned that wheelchair basketball may be excluded from the Tokyo Paralympic Games if the classification rules are not improved. And revealed that nine athletes did not meet the criteria to qualify for the Paralympic Games.

In January, the IPC warned that the International Federation of Wheelchair Basketball may exclude wheelchair basketball from the Tokyo Paralympic Games if it is not improved because it does not follow the classification rules.

In response to this, the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation conducted a re-examination of 132 athletes from each country in the "4.5" class with the lightest disability and the "4" class with the second lightest disability in accordance with the IPC classification rules. The results were announced on the 29th.

As a result, nine athletes did not fall into the obstacles that meet the IPC's requirements for participation in the Paralympic Games, making it difficult to compete in next year's Tokyo Games. We have also withheld conclusions that more detailed material is needed for the four players.

The Japan Wheelchair Basketball Federation has not made it clear if there are any Japanese players in this.

The International Federation of Wheelchair Basketball commented, "We will support the players who were affected by the re-examination and we will work to continue the competition."
