[Explanation] Yanqing competition area is one of the three major competition areas for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics. It will mainly undertake alpine skiing and snowmobile sled competitions. On July 29, the reporter conducted a field visit to learn about the construction and ecological protection of the Yanqing competition area.

[Explanation] The Yanqing competition area is the most difficult competition area for the Beijing Winter Olympics. In the mountainous areas with no roads, water and electricity, construction started in 2017, and it took only 3 years to build the first domestic Olympic-standard building Alpine ski arena and the first domestic snowmobile sled track.

[Concurrent] Li Changzhou, Deputy General Manager of Beijing Beijing Enterprises Beijing Olympic Construction Co., Ltd.

Our national snowmobile sled center mainly includes the main track under our feet, and then corresponds to it is the awning above, there is also a timing and scoring system and lighting system for it. No matter how low the outdoor temperature is, the ice surface will also melt and evaporate under direct sunlight, which will affect the quality of the ice surface. Therefore, we have a system to perform shading treatment, and then add sun shades to form a microclimate to meet the needs of the competition. Among all the 17 (sled sled) tracks (in the world), only ours has a 360° roundabout. The difficulty of the whole (track) is also record-breaking, and the sled sled center can be viewed very well. On March 10 this year (2020), the entire 1.9km (main) track was successfully made.

[Explanation] At the same time, during the construction of the National Snowmobile and Sled Center, energy conservation and environmental protection have been fully considered, and the concept of "Green Olympics" has been reflected by optimizing the ice-making and cooling links.

[Concurrent] Li Changzhou, Deputy General Manager of Beijing Beijing Enterprises Beijing Olympic Construction Co., Ltd.

One is to reduce waste, because there are many water supply points distributed in our ice making, and anti-freezing measures are used to prevent it from being uncontrollable. In addition, energy saving is about refrigeration. According to the needs of operation, temperature control can not only meet the quality requirements of the ice surface, but also adjust the cooling temperature according to the outdoor temperature and ice surface requirements anytime and anywhere, and then reduce energy consumption.

[Explanation] In addition to the Winter Olympics area, Yanqing is also an important ecological conservation area in Beijing. In order to promote ecological sustainable development in the construction of the competition area, the Yanqing competition area started in many ways to protect the vegetation in the competition area.

[Concurrent] Liang Dedong, Director of Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development Working Group of Beijing Beikong Jingao Construction Co., Ltd.

During the architectural planning and design of the Olympic Village and the layout of the construction site, special attention was paid to the analysis of the impact of the native trees on the site, and more than one hundred large trees were retained in the construction site. In terms of near ground protection, we should transplant more than 10,000 shrubs and herbs in the competition area and then transplant them nearby. In terms of ex-situ (protection), we have transplanted more than 20,000 trees in the competition area. In our ex-situ conservation base, the survival rate of trees can reach more than 90%.

[Explanation] It is understood that the Winter Olympics ex-situ protection base covers an area of about 300 mu. In the future, the base will also establish a file of the transplanted tree big data system, and make full use of the transplanted trees to create the Winter Olympics country park landscape.

[Concurrent] Liu Lifeng, Director of Yanqing Stadium Construction Office, Beijing Major Project Construction Headquarters Office

During construction, we adopted a large number of original ecological restoration measures, made full use of our own resources in the competition area, and minimized man-made disturbances, so that our buildings, landscapes and nature were integrated, and the mountains and forests and stadiums complemented each other. According to the plan, by the end of this year (2020), the four major stadiums in the core area of the Yanqing competition area will be fully completed. The National Alpine Ski Center and the National Snowmobile and Sled Center will start snowmaking and ice making at the end of the year. By the beginning of next year (2021) It will host a series of international winter sports events for the first time.
