The International Motorcycle Federation FIM and the World Cup organizer BSI (Benfield Sports International) have announced that the World Cup series will be held in a slimmed-down version, and with two races every weekend on four occasions.

It is already clear that the Swedish World Cup competitions in Hallstavik and Målilla will not end due to the corona pandemic. The same now applies to the Danish Grand Prix in Vojens, which was to be run on September 12 (see competition calendar below).

All competitions will instead be run in Poland and the Czech Republic. The only thing that is not entirely clear is where the seventh sub-competition will be run.

FIM and BSI work together to be able to arrange these competitions with a limited number of spectators, taking into account health recommendations that apply in relevant countries.

- Despite the challenges caused by the corona pandemic, we are happy to be able to carry out a World Cup series and crown a world champion in October, says Paul Bellamy, CEO of BSI.

There will also be a team World Cup final (Speedway of nations) in Manchester on October 24-25, where the seven best countries from the 2019 team world championships will be qualified. Sweden finished fifth in that final.

The original plan was to run the semifinals of the team WC in Latvia, but those competitions are canceled.

Two Swedish drivers are qualified for the WC series, Fredrik Lindgren and Antonio Lindbäck.
