A few weeks ago, few UFC fans had heard of Swedish Khamzat Chimaev.

But since then it has gone fast.

With just a few days notice, he got the chance to make his UFC debut, but in the wrong weight class (middleweight, 84 kilos). He accepted that match and was completely superior.

UFC President Dana White sat on the first floor and granted Chimaev's request for a new match the following week. This time in the right weight class (welterweight, 77 kilos).

This weekend, the Swede set a new UFC record with two victories in just ten days, nor was he hit once. Seen over two matches, he dealt 192 strokes and was only hit twice himself.

"Not Formula 1 all the time"

His coach Andreas Michael, who also coaches Alexander Gustafsson, was with Chimaev during the adventure on "Fight Island".

- People think it has gone fast, but not me. I know how hard he trains and how much he deserves this. He has trained like an animal for this and now he has shown that he belongs in the UFC, Michael says to SVT Sport.

The coach was never worried about the matches themselves, however, about how Chimaev's body would respond to losing weight twice in such a short time.

- I thought first and foremost about his health. Anyone who has lost weight before a match knows how difficult it is. And afterwards, the body can end up in a kind of self-defense and does not release fluid as easily. He weighs around 88 kilos normally so 84 was no problem, but to then go down to 77 a week later is tough.

And now it is rumored that he will go to a new match already on August 15?

- Yes, but I do not think so. He's not a thing, he's a man we're talking about. Losing weight three times in five weeks is a little too much, I think. If he really wants to do it, we support him, he should not have to fight alone, but I think he should take a short vacation, says Andreas Michael and continues:

- You can not just drive Formula 1 and maximize all the time and believe that the wheels, engine and brakes will work perfectly. Khamzat needs to let his body rest and then rebuild it so that he does not get injured. We want him to be able to do this for a long time.

"We should not be in a hurry"

Although Chimaev has been wrestling since childhood, he has only been practicing MMA for about two and a half years.

In a short time he has played eight professional matches and won all of them. No opponent has managed to pass the time against the Swede.

- We should not be in a hurry. We must not forget that he has only been running MMA for two and a half years. Title matches and all that will come, but now we take this step by step. Khamzat is still young with a lot to learn. We also want him to develop quickly, but we have to use his head, says Andreas Michael.
