Six late summer evenings, the host Yvette Hermundstad meets the main characters in twelve selected sports classics, in a program from SVT Sport called Sommaröppet.

First out on Monday, July 27, is a deep dive into the memories of Tre Kronor's World Cup gold in Vienna in 1987 and Kajsa Bergqvist's high jump triumph at the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 2005.

Many people remember Tre Kronor's constant search for the impossible Soviet Union, more than 30 years ago. That Sweden was outclassed and humiliated was not unusual. But after 50 straight losses, Sweden won the last training match before the World Cup in Vienna, in April 1987. The Soviets were defeated 2-1 at the Court - and hope was kindled.

When the teams met again in the World Cup finals, only one point was required for Sweden to have the chance to become world champions for the first time in 25 years.

A now classic goal, with only 81 seconds left to play, gave 2-2. Tomas Sandström equalized in an almost empty box, after a Swedish dream attack.

- Have you been with your husband! exclaimed the commentator Arne Hegerfors.

In the Summer Open's studio, Bengt-Åke Gustafsson, Jonas Bergqvist and Håkan Södergren look back.
