Malmö FF came to Stundenternas IP with the aim set on one thing: to shrink the distance to league-leading IFK Norrköping.
IK Sirius bluntly ignored that.

Henrik Rydström's team has played a cheerful and fearless attacking football and so they did when MFF came to visit.

After 18 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defense allowed Yukiya Sugita to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors.

Referee Kristoffer Karlsson pointed to the penalty spot from which Mohammed Said gave the home team the lead after cheating Johan Dahlin into the wrong corner.

At the beginning of the second half, MFF was bowled into the match after a candidate for this year's goalkeeper board. Quite unthreatened, Elias Andersson played the ball home to Sirius goalkeeper Lukas Jonsson who missed the reception and the ball rolled teasingly into the empty goal.

However, Sirius recovered immediately and five minutes later the Uppsala team took the lead again after Mohammed Said found Stefano Vecchia who received the ball in the penalty area and placed it away from the goal behind a chanceless Dahlin.

With half an hour left to play, MFF's long-throwing full-back Jonas Knudsen was replaced, a change that bore fruit immediately.

MFF's stars stepped forward

After a long throw, the second ball steamed down on Ola Toivonen's feet who from close range pushed in the equalizer, 2-2.

- It just shows up and it should be good to push and make sure to hit goals, says Ola Toivonen in Dplay's broadcast.

During the last half hour of the match, the match picture was undulating where both teams went to find another goal, but the individual skill of MFF proved to be crucial.

After 86 minutes, Jo Inge Berget sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. However, Toivonen did not manage to connect with it, as his team mates had hoped, and the ball went out.

When Sirius continued to push people forward for a draw, MFF instead found both one and two more goals through Jo Inge Berget and Sören Rieks who wrote the final result to 5-2.

- We are in a good phase and feel terribly strong. We feel terribly strong and I am very happy with the fighting spirit in the team when we are behind because Sirius is a good team here on the artificial turf, says Toiovnen.

With the victory, MFF, which on Thursday plays the cup final against IFK Gothenburg, is only two points behind league leader IFK Norrköping.
