In June last year, Alexander Gustafsson lost in the Globe and announced directly in the cage his decision that his career was over.

After a little more than a year of absence, he was back in the hot air last night at a gala on "Fight Island", the island of Yas in the United Arab Emirates.

Gustafsson took the step up from light heavyweight (93 kilos) to heavyweight and weighed in at almost 109 kilos before the match. He was directly opposed to severe opposition in the form of former world champion Fabricio Werdum.
