Norén went on Friday on 69 strokes and his total -6 is enough for a shared 17th place. He is six strokes behind the lead, but only three from a sixth place.

Henrik Norlander will also be allowed to continue playing this weekend, he is 51st, four strokes behind Norén.

It's even at the top, where the more anonymous players take on a windy Blaine, just north of Minneapolis. The American duo Michael Thompson and Richy Werenski lead the competition at -12, one stroke ahead of compatriots Tony Finau and Talor Gooch.

Finau is one of the few stars who played well in the competition, where players like Brooks Koepka and Bubba Watson missed the so-called cut for further play.

Even for the Swedes David Lingmerth and Daniel Chopra, it is over, none of them managed to go under par one of the days and missed by a certain margin the cut.
