Despite a previously unthreatened world best record of 70.25 meters, Daniel Ståhl has not been completely satisfied with his summer. The 27-year-old has not had the throwing technique fully matched - and now he is no longer the best in the world this year.

According to Aftonbladet, the Colombian Mauricio Ortega, who already smoked in the qualifiers at the World Cup in Doha last autumn, pulled in with a giant throw and noted a new personal best - with over three meters.

The result? 70.29.

A bit left to Ståhl's record

- Fun for him. And it is only good for the discus the more people who throw far, says Daniel Ståhl to Aftonbladet.

He is not particularly upset that competition seems to have intensified in the world elite.

- No, it makes me light up a little extra. There are many competitions left and many opportunities to throw longer than I have already done, says Ståhl.

The 25-year-old Ortega, whose new top rating has not yet been registered on the International Athletics Federation's website, set his new record in a competition in Vila Nova de Cerveira, Portugal. His previous personal best was 67.03.

Up to Daniel Ståhl's record - 71.86 - there is still some way to go.
