Trophy captain Troy Denny has denounced the rumors that players are clashing with their former coach Nigel Pearson in the changing rooms during the team's 1–3 defeat to West Ham in the English Premier League last Friday.

The club sacked Pearson, 53, on Sunday evening, becoming the third coach to be coached from the team this season after Javi Garcia and Kiki Sanchez Flores.

Some press reports stated that the reason Pearson left the team was because of a quarrel in the changing rooms between the two halves of the match that the team lost to West Ham.

Denny said that Pearson was not used to any player, explaining: "He was just tense and spoke to us strictly."

He added: "No one quarreled. No one piled on. There was no clash of hands."

Watford is ranked 17th in the Premier League table, just three points ahead of relegation zone teams, before his last two games in the competition.

Denny said he was shocked by the decision to fire the coach at this time.
