The Kalmar trend continues. After a strong first half, the Smålanders again lost a lead in the second half. When David Elm went out after injury, Malmö became too heavy for the guests and could only equalize through Isak Kiese Thelin. In the final minutes of the match, the striker stepped forward again and decided with a nice action in the penalty area.

Squid line after penalty

Malmö started best and created pressure against the Kalmar goal, however, without creating any really dangerous goal chances. But Kalmar used Malmöpressen and found counterattacks behind the back line.

After just over half an hour, Anel Ahmedhodzic went up in a nod duel in his own penalty area. But instead of taking the ball on his head, the young midfielder sent up an arm that touched the ball. No doubt from referee Al-Hakim who directly pointed to the penalty spot. Kalmartrot servant Viktor Elm showed no apology from the penalty spot and definitely sent in 1-0 next to the left post.

Elm out injured - then Kalmar lost

But Viktor Elm, one of the best players on the pitch, would have to leave the match early. After 55 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave Isak Kiese Thelin a chance to increase the lead, and he did not disappoint. After the foot seemed to get stuck in the carpet at Malmö Stadium, Elm lay writhing in pain and reached for his knee. After a hard wind on the right wing, the Kalmar captain was replaced.

With Elm away, Malmö FF's weight forward became even clearer. Kiese Thelin went up in a nod duel and then got the ball back in the penalty area and was able to screw up 1-1 in the cross, the striker's fourth goal of the season.

Isak Kiese Thelin, together with Anders Christiansen, may have been Malmö's most important player and the 28-year-old would also have to decide. With 88 minutes played, the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending. No mistakes there and 2-1 to the home team. Kiese Thelin also had a chance to complete his hat trick after a penalty in overtime but then saved Lukas Hägg Johansson and the match ended 2-1.
