Lewis Hamilton won the eighth Hungary Grand Prix, a record today, to take the top spot in the F1 world championships from his teammate, Mercedes Valtieri Potas.

Max Verstappen came second and was awarded the "Best Driver of the Day" award after he had an accident while on his way to the grid, and his team, Red Bull, did an amazing job of fixing the problem before the race started.

Potash, who is five points behind Hamilton after three races, finished third as he recovered from a wrong start from the first row.

Hamilton, the world champion six times, who started from the first position for the 90th time in his career and got an additional point after achieving the fastest lap, raised his score to 86 wins in his career, and he is now five wins behind Michael Schumacher's record number of 91 wins.

The British driver equaled Schumacher's record by winning one grand prize eight times, which the Ferrari legend did at the France Prize between 1994 and 2006.

"I received several strikes in the first round, which I was not prepared for, but I regained my focus, and the last two wins were great," said Hamilton, who finished fourth in the opening race that Potas won, for the current season.
