The midfield team Wigan defeated the bottom team Hull with 8-0 after scoring seven goals already in the first half at home at DW Stadium. Midfielder Kieran Dowell scored the most goals in the match, three, after setting the final score in the second half.

The 8-0 victory meant a record for Wigan, the biggest victory in a league match in the club's 88-year history. The previous record was the 7-0 away win over Oxford United in League One in December 2017, according to the BBC.

A club in crisis

One week ago, it became clear that Wigan will suffer twelve points in deduction in the Championship as the club is placed under financial management in the corona crisis. With two rounds left in a limping table, Wigan have eleven points down to the relegation line.

If Wigan, currently in 13th place in the English second division, are above the line after the season, the points will be deducted from this year's Championship season. If the team slips below the relegation line, the points will be deducted from next season's game in League One.
