Bulgarian wrestling champion Nikolai Stierrev died today, Wednesday, from a new corona virus, according to a statement from the local game association.
Stirev, 33, did not recover from the virus after being hospitalized in a serious condition on June 19.
Stirrev, son of the famous wrestling champion Simeon Stirrev, won the Dan Kulov International Competition in 2011 in the category of 125 kg, and he became a national champion in the same category in 2018.
He ended his career last year after proving his abuse of stimulant Kandaren and was subject to a four-year ban from competing.
His father Simeon, who supervised Bulgarian wrestling Stanka Zlativa, is recovering from the virus while winning two Olympic medals and several world and European relatives.
