Ajax has strengthened itself with Mohammed Kudus, various Dutch media report on Wednesday. The Amsterdammers are said to take over the nineteen-year-old Ghanaian attacker for over 9 million euros from FC Nordsjaelland.
According to De Telegraaf , VI and AD , if he passes the medical examination, Kudus will sign a five-year contract until mid-2025. With the arrival of the talent, Ajax would have trumped top clubs such as Borussia Dortmund, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur .
Kudus had his breakthrough at Nordsjaelland last season. He scored 12 goals in 28 official games. He was sidelined by the Danish club in the last two games of the playoffs due to an impending transfer.
The agile dribbler, who can handle all offensive positions, made his debut in professional football at Nordsjaelland in 2018, for which he scored a total of fourteen times in 57 games. He also played two international matches for Ghana and was once accurate in it.
Kudus is the third addition to Ajax. The record champion of the Netherlands previously won striker Anthony for 15.75 million euros from São Paulo and goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg free transfer from Everton. Ajax would also be interested in midfielder Pierre-Emile Højbjerg from Southampton.
Ajax is already preparing for the coming season. In the run-up to the start of the Eredivisie in the weekend of September 12 and 13, the team of trainer Erik ten Hag will practice against RKC Waalwijk (August 8), FC Utrecht (August 13) and Red Bull Salzburg (August 22).
