The family of football player Innokenty Samokhvalov, who died of heart failure while jogging in April this year, did not receive the help he was counting on from Lokomotiv. The relatives of the athlete who died in the 23rd year of his life told the blogger Yevgeny Savin about this in his new investigation.

The athlete’s mother Tatyana Terekhova told how she applied to the club with a request to pay for the purchase of an apartment for his widow Anna and her young son. The woman stated that she had contacted the Director General Vasily Kiknadze directly, but was refused.

“I called Kiknadze almost immediately after the incident. Yes, I did ask to consider buying an apartment for the Keshi family. They rented a house, but were left without a breadwinner. Kiknadze said that at the moment the club does not have such an opportunity. These were the words, ”said Terekhova.

She also confirmed the information that Lokomotiv did not fulfill the promise to get Samokhvalov’s wife to work in the club with the payment of the same salary that a football player was entitled to. Anna received a position, but earns 50 thousand rubles a month, of which 45 thousand rubles goes to rent an apartment. Samokhvalov, according to the "Championship", under the contract received 150 thousand rubles a month.

Terekhova noted that in connection with the death of her son, insurance was not paid, although the clubs of the Russian Premier League are obliged to insure their players for 800 thousand rubles. This situation is recorded in the rules of the Russian Football Union (RFU).

“We were told that this case is not insurance. Unfortunately, the company cannot pay money, as the players were in quarantine and this did not happen during training or in the game. Kesha said that he was in quarantine, but he was given an individual training schedule to do at home. I don’t know exactly how he trained, I just asked him what they said to do during the pandemic, and he answered me that way, ”the mother of the deceased said.

She drew attention to the fact that neither Lokomotiv nor the RFU conducted any checks upon the death of her son. Terekhova also said that the club wanted to pay the football player’s family the full amount due under the contract (which is about 2.5 million rubles), but it turned out to be significantly lower.

Savin also said that in 2016 Samokhvalov underwent a survey that revealed his health problems. The footballer was found to have polytopic ventricular extrasystoles, which is why he could not continue his sports career. Samokhvalov did not play after that for a year, but then continued to play football, although a new survey in the winter of 2020 revealed that his condition only worsened. According to the blogger, the doctors should have reacted and forbade Samokhvalov to enter the field, but he remained in the structure of Lokomotiv and spent the last season at his farm club Kazanka.

Brother Samokhvalova Vasily noted that the football player was ready to end his career if doctors had told him about this, but he did not receive such an order. At the same time, he denied the information that Samokhvalov allegedly provided Lokomotiv with a receipt, according to which he took responsibility for his health problems.

Savin also voiced the response of the press service of the "railroad" to the most pressing issues related to the death of Samokhvalov. He was told that the club had already conducted an investigation and did not identify violations on its part, and the player’s “maximum” assistance was provided to the player’s relatives. At the same time, sources of RIA Novosti in Lokomotiv claim that the Samokhvalov family received 3 million rubles from the club.

The coach of the Lokomotiv Academy Igor Drykov reacted to the story about the problems of the Samokhvalov family. He announced a fundraiser for the apartment for the widow and son of a football player and invited the main players to contribute.

“The situation has already happened. I suggest simply repaying Keshe and his family with the very good that he gave us. I guarantee you will return this boomerang. This is a personal story for me. I am a graduate of Loko and the current trainer of the Academy. I just can't get past this. If the club does not have the opportunity to help, then why not help the players of the main team. If each of the main staff allocates 3-5% of their salary, then this will already be a full-fledged apartment. And I think no one will get poorer from this, ”wrote Drykov in his Instagram account.
