According to Milstein in his Twitter, the agreement is designed until the end of the current season.
Sorokin was selected by the Islanders in the third round of the draft in 2014 under the 78th number.
Since 2014, Sorokin played for Moscow CSKA. Last season, he held 39 games in the KHL, averaging 1.38 goals per game.
Sorokin is the owner of the Gagarin Cup, as well as the 2018 Olympic champion in the Russian national team.
Earlier, Alexander Ovechkin admitted that he had not thought about a new contract with Washington.
