Al-Ahly Club presented a note today to Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, the Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports, requesting that legal measures be taken towards the encroachment of Zamalek officials on the trademark of the "Club of the Century".
Al-Ahly demanded the removal of the "Zamalek Club, the Real Century" signs, which were suspended by Zamalek officials in the vicinity of their club and the highest buildings of the club.
Al-Ahly said on his official website today, Tuesday, that he strengthened his request to the Minister of Sports with a statement issued by the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade last Saturday, which was covered by all media, and blew up any murmurs that some people were trying to create about the brand "Club of the Century".
The statement affirmed that “Al-Qarn Club Mark is exclusively owned by Al-Ahly Club, as it was registered in 2007 after fulfilling all the procedures stipulated in Intellectual Property Law No. 82 of 2002, and that this registered mark has legal protection to date.”
The Ministry of Supply indicated in the same statement that "Zamalek Club submitted an application on the fifth of July to register the logo of Zamalek Club, the real century Football Club, and this request and its legitimacy will be examined, but it is fixed and according to the text of the Ministry of Supply statement also that when registering the trademarks related to clubs For sports related to obtaining honors degrees, the applicant must submit proof of obtaining it from the donor before proceeding with the registration procedures.
The ministry continued, "Everyone knows locally and continually that the donor of the Century Club title is the Confederation of African Football (CAF), and this title was awarded to Al-Ahly Club by an official decision twenty years ago, and the club received the award at a ceremony held by CAF in Johannesburg on May 22, 2001, It is fixed in the records of Kafe and Al-Ahly. "
The statement of the Ministry of Supply stated, "As a result, Al-Ahly has the full right to register the Century Club mark under the Trademarks Department and in the World Intellectual Property Organization, so that this mark, after its official registration, is exclusively owned by Al-Ahly Club and not only, and assaulting it represents a crime punishable by law."
