Yesterday it became clear that the NFL team Washington will remove "Redskins" completely, a topic that has been debated for several years - as the name is considered derogatory against the American indigenous population.

The same goes for the SHL club, Frölunda Indians.

Frölunda, who five years ago was reported to the Discrimination Ombudsman (DO) because of her name and logo, was considered discriminated against, has been put under pressure during the spring.

Now Washington has chosen to act and remove "Redskins" - will this speed up that process for Frölunda?

- It is clear that outside influence and the media put a stamp on it and you are governed by emotions and it is important that we do our job before our decision on what the future should look like. Therefore, it feels good that the process has already started a couple of months ago, says Christian Lechtaler, Frölunda's club director, to SVT Sport.

"We want to speed up the process"

Do you feel that you have no choice but to delete the name and logo at this time?

- I do not want to comment on this and now, we want to let our process and the analysis that is done have its way, so you get to see what it results in. It is about the same situation as it was when I last spoke to you. We want to speed up this process, says Lechtaler.

How Frölunda will meet the future with the logo and the name is something that will be completed this autumn.

- And that is really when we will take this issue further internally for Frölunda.

But exactly when in the autumn the message comes, Frölunda's club director does not want to answer.

- I do not have an exact date, it is a job to be done and when it is ready, then we make a decision. There is no need to rush to have a deadline with a date. But it is clear that the faster the better of course. But there is no reason to stress anything out.
