When the emergency services arrived at the scene, the 26-year-old was injured in his stomach and he then died in hospital.
The perpetrator is reported to be on the free foot.
Tottenham later confirmed the information on its website:

We support Serge in this tough time and pray that the integrity of the player and his family is respected. Everyone from the club sends their deepest condolences to Serge and his family. Our thoughts are with them all. "
Christopher Aurier played for the Toulouse Rodeo in the French FIFA League. He trained in Lens as a youngster, just like his big brother Serge, but never broke through at a higher level.
