Athletics Golden Grand Prix next month To no audience at National Stadium July 13 18:36

The "Golden Grand Prix", an international track and field competition that was postponed due to the new coronavirus, will be held at the National Stadium for the first time as a track and field competition in late next month. Due to the spread of global infection, overseas players will not participate, but it is being considered that some high school students who have been suspended by the whole national high school together with the top domestic players can participate.

The on-ground "Golden Grand Prix" is an international tournament in which leading players from Japan and overseas participate, and was scheduled to be held at the National Stadium in May this year, but it was postponed due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection.

The Japan Athletics Federation had adjusted the timing but announced on 23rd next month that it would open at the same National Stadium without spectators.

This is the first time that a track and field competition has been held since the National Stadium was completed last November.

According to the Japan Land Federation, it is difficult for overseas players to come to Japan due to the ongoing spread of infection worldwide, and only the top domestic players will participate, so the selection of people is currently in progress.

On the other hand, in response to the suspension of national high schools in general, the high school students are now considering the competition as a place to play an active role instead, and considering that selected high school students can participate.

Hiroshi Yokokawa, Chairman of the Japan Athletic Federation, commented, "We will fully deliver the energetic appearance of athletes who are waiting for the restart of the competition and the charm of athletics from the stage of the prosperous National Stadium."
