Zinedine Zidane praised Thibaut Courtois on Friday evening after the eighth consecutive competition win for Real Madrid. According to the coach of the 'Koninklijke', the beautiful series is largely due to the Belgian goalkeeper.

"The influence of Thibaut on our results is very great. What he does every game is really phenomenal," said a laudatory Zidane at his press conference after the home game against Deportivo Alavés (2-0).

It was already the fifth game in a row that Real Madrid did not score any hits. Since the resumption of the league after the corona crisis, the league leader of La Liga has conceded only two goals anyway, often thanks to Courtois.

"When it comes to defending, it matters to everyone in the team. But Thibaut prevented two or three goals against Deportivo with his saves and that has proved crucial. His input is really very important," Zidane emphasized.

Zidane remains silent about new penalty Real Madrid

Real's victory over Deportivo Alavés was (partly) caused by a penalty, just like in the previous two games. Against Getafe (1-0) and Athletic Club (0-1) it was captain Sergio Ramos who used a penalty, this time it was Karim Benzema who hit eleven meters.

Several teams believe that Real has been favored by the arbitration since the resumption of the season, which in turn led to some irritations for Zidane. The French coach did not want to elaborate too much after the game against Deportivo Alavés.

"A penalty is a penalty, otherwise I only look at our game and that was good. We were really one," said Zidane, whose team only needs two more wins to grab the league title. With four rounds to go, Real has four points more than nearest attacker FC Barcelona.
