Like many other events, Wimbledon had to cancel his tournament because of the corona virus. The 134th edition, which should have taken place from June 29 to July 12, never went away.

However, the organizer of the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) received a considerable amount of compensation - thanks to a 17-year-old insurance. Forbes wrote that Wimbledon received SEK 1.4 billion.

The singles players are rewarded the most

The All England Lawn Tennis Club chooses to give away around SEK 120 million, which would have been the prize money in the 134th edition. A total of 620 players will receive compensation. The single players get the most.

"Immediately after the tournament was canceled, we turned our attention to trying to help everyone who usually makes Wimbledon possible," says Richard Lewis, CEO of AELTC, according to Reuters.
