The Egyptian newspaper Al-Gomhoria revealed today, Friday, that "Al-Ahly decided to submit an official appeal within the next 72 hours to the request submitted by the Zamalek Club to the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade during the past hours to register the trademark with the title of the Club of the Horn of Africa in the name of the White Castle."

The newspaper said: "Al-Ahly will file an appeal against the request of Zamalek, which was submitted by the latter on the fifth of July this month to the Ministry of Supply, because this title is the right of Al-Ahly according to the official documents and papers from local and international bodies."

The newspaper stressed that "submitting Zamalek an application to the Ministry of Supply and Foreign Trade to register an intellectual mark in its name bearing the title of the Century Club in Africa does not mean that it will obtain the title because the matter needs studying, examining and presenting documents and papers and it takes months", explaining that "the relevant authorities were confirmed through papers and documents." Officially, Al-Ahly is entitled to the Club of the Horn of Africa title, so the club's logo has been registered with the phrase "Club of the Horn of Africa".

Zamalek club president Mortada Mansour announced that he registered the "Real Century Football Club" sign at the Ministry of Supply, and said on his personal account on Facebook: "I ask Al-Ahly President Mahmoud Al-Khatib to remove the club's slogans from his club."

It is noteworthy that Zamalek resorted to the International Football Association to claim its right to the title of "Club of the Century" and not its national rival, which was in turn awarded to him in 2000 by the African Union, which was then chaired by Cameroonian Issa Hayatou, and Mortada Mansour filed legal cases against what happened 20 years ago He demanded that the title be awarded to his club, especially that Zamalek won nine championships compared to seven for Al-Ahly in that period of time.
