“First of all, I want to thank Vladimir Petrovich for his work as president of the Russian Biathlon Union. Despite all the difficulties that arose during his two-year leadership, Vladimir Petrovich strove to achieve positive results in his work and, in any situation, did his best to support Russian biathletes, ”Matinsyn’s press service quoted the Ministry of Sports as saying.

He wished Drachev success in his work in the State Duma and noted that in the Russian biathlon it is necessary to combine efforts to overcome the crisis.

“The new head of the RRF will have to resolve all the contradictions that have developed in the organization. The priority tasks are the development of biathlon in the regions, the preparation of a sports reserve, the improvement of the results of Russian athletes in the international arena, the restoration of IBU membership, as well as the competent management of the RBU and a balanced personnel policy, ”said Matytsin.

He also emphasized that the Ministry of Sports will support the new leadership of the RRF.

On July 11, a report-and-election conference of the RRF should be held, where a new president of the organization will be elected. The only candidate for the post is Viktor Maigurov.

Drachev served as head of the RRF since 2018.

Earlier, Drachev announced his resignation as head of the RRF.
