After a four-month break, the American Football League started up again with a tournament at Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

The tournament began with eight minutes and 46 seconds of silence - as long as police Derek Chauvin pressed his knee to George Floyd's neck until he died.

On May 25, 46-year-old George Floyd died in connection with a brutal police raid in Minneapolis, USA.

Before the opening match between Orlando and Inter Miami, about 200 players stood, all dressed in black t-shirts with anti-racism messages, black gloves, black face masks with the Black Lives Matters symbol, in a ring or kneel, and stretched their right fist in the air.

"What you saw tonight was a special moment on players' initiative, and Major League Soccer partnered with us to make this possible," said Toronto player and promoter Justin Morrow about the protest.

Nani decided overtime against Beckham's Miami

"We all want to change the world"

Orlando's Nani was taken afterwards.

- It felt for several minutes afterwards. We all want to change the world. We want a better world - no differences or discrimination. Everyone in the world should stop for a few minutes and think about our children and teach them to become better people and create a better world, he says.

It was precisely Nani who played the lead in Orlando's 2-1 win against Miami, where David Beckham is club manager. In the seventh extra minute, the former Manchester United player decided with the final goal of the match, thus giving Orlando 2-1.

In total, 26 teams are gathered in Orlando for the tournament, which contains 54 matches in 35 days between July 8 and August 11. The teams are divided into six groups, three teams with teams from the Western Conference and three from the East.

One and two from each group, as well as the top four threes, advance to the playoffs, which includes the eighth finals, quarterfinals, semifinals and finals.

MLS only had to play two rounds of this year's series before the game was stopped because of the corona pandemic.
