The Government has declared the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix an event of exceptional public interest to promote the organization of the race, which takes place at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, and to grant tax benefits to collaborating companies.

The Council of Ministers, at the proposal of the Minister of Culture and Sports, José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes , has declared an event of exceptional public interest to the Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix, with the aim of giving a boost with the benefits of the tax regime of the non-profit entities and tax incentives for patronage.

As a representative example of the resumption of sports competitions after the crisis caused by Covid-19, the Government of Spain wants to contribute to the revival of the Grand Prix and facilitate the obtaining of private resources.

The first Formula 1 Grand Prix was held in 1991 in Montmeló, the venue since then for the Spanish F1 Grand Prix and the MotoGP Grand Prix of Catalonia, two of the world's most prestigious motorsport championships. "With the celebration of these motor competitions and others on its sports calendar, the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya projects its name and that of Montmeló, Barcelona, ​​Catalunya and Spain worldwide, being a representative example of the resumption of competitions sports after the crisis caused by the Covid-19 ", highlights the Government.

For her part, the president of the Higher Sports Council (CSD), Irene Lozano , assured that it is "formidable news" for Formula 1 and for Spain. "The Government has placed sport on the front line from the moment the de-escalation began, and that commitment continues to be a fact. Together, we also continue to be an example in #DeporteSeguro," he celebrated.
