• Tennis: ATP changes the scoring system for the coronavirus ranking

The director of the Mutua Madrid Open , Feliciano López , confirmed on Tuesday that Rafael Nadal will play from September 12 to 20 in the Spanish capital.

Feliciano López communicated through a tweet in his personal account that Rafael Nadal, winner of 19 Grand Slam titles and five-time winner in Madrid, will participate in the next edition of this Masters 1000.

"I have spoken to my friend Rafael Nadal and he has confirmed his participation in Madrid next September . We are waiting for you as always with open arms at the Caja Mágica!" Said Feliciano López.

"That's right Feli. See you in September in Madrid. Meanwhile everything goes well," replied the Balearic minutes later.

In this way, Rafa Nadal's participation in the tournament is guaranteed, which should have originally been played in May but was postponed to September due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Nadal won in Madrid five times, in 2005, 2010, 2013, 2014 and 2017. The last winner of the contest was the Serbian Novak Djokovic.
