Valtieri Botas of Finland won an exciting Grand Prix at the opening of the F1 world championship season with champions Mercedes on Sunday as the safety car got off the track several times and crossed 11 of 20 drivers' finish line.

Ferrari driver Charles Locklear scored a big surprise by finishing second to McLaren's Lando Norris, who rose to the podium for the first time after six-time world champion Lewis Hamilton got a five-second time penalty to lose second.
