It was at a training session on January 26 with the French club Lyon that Ada Hegerberg tore off the cross band and was forced to conclude that the season was over. But just a few weeks later, the French league game was halted because of the corona pandemic and Lyon's series leader was named champion for the 14th consecutive year.

- It is quite incredible to miss only four, five matches with a cross band injury. I always thought I was very lucky in life, this was a good thing, says Ada Hegerberg to Sportbladet.

Champions League final August 30

Initially, the goal was to be back on the football field at the beginning of next season, but maybe it will be sooner than that. The Champions League game has been moved forward and is in the form of a mini tournament August 21 and 30 in San Sebastian and Bilbao - then Hegerberg may be back.

- I don't know if I can, that's the sad answer. It is important to have an ambition and a goal to think back to the plan, but it is still impossible to say. Right now I take it day by day, you have to listen to the head and knees, says Hegerberg.

Her Lyon is in the quarterfinals where Bayern Munich are the opposition. The 24-year-old has scored 53 goals in 50 matches in the Champions League and last year she shot the title to Lyon after a hat-trick in the final against Barcelona.

Afraid that the women's football will drop

Because of the corona pandemic, all football has been down, but now the league game has finally started again - at least on the men's side. On the women's side, only the German league has resumed the game. Something that Hegerberg thinks is telling about how women's football was treated during the pandemic.

- We can see that it is only the German (ladies) league that has started up yet and much more I do not think you have to say to ascertain what the reality is at the moment.

- In this situation, you have to have strong personalities that make sure that women's soccer does not lose the position we had before the corona, says Hegerberg.
