Valtteri Bottas won the first Grand Prix of the Formula 1 season on Sunday in Austria. Behind the Mercedes driver it was a chaotic race with three safety cars and nine dropouts, including Max Verstappen.

Bottas led the Red Bull Ring from start to finish and won over Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc. Lewis Hamilton was in second place for a long time, but the six-time world champion received a five-second time penalty after a touch with Alexander Albon.

McLaren's Lando Norris finished third, taking the first podium finish of his career. Hamilton had to settle for fourth place.

Bottas is the leader in the World Cup standings due to his victory. The second race of the season will also be held on the Red Bull Ring next week.
