On July 3, the Russian mixed martial arts coach Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov died. The death of UFC champion’s father Khabib Nurmagomedov was announced by the head of the Chechen Republic Ramzan Kadyrov.

“The sad news reached me, friends, that Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov left this world. From all Chechen people I offer sincere condolences to the family of Abdulmanap Magomedovich! He left us, leaving behind a good name and raising a worthy generation! ” - wrote the head of the region in his Telegram channel.

The cause of death was two previously suffered strokes, said a friend of the deceased and well-known television commentator Ramazan Rabadanov. According to him, the position of the 57-year-old specialist was too difficult.

“Abdulmanap had two strokes. In the heart and brain. They could cure the heart, but not the brain. He never left a coma. The situation was too difficult, it was already too late. Doctors did everything they could. They even tried to connect the president, but ... the situation was too difficult, ”Rabadanov told the Championship.

Nurmagomedov Sr. will be buried soon in his native village of Kirovaul in Dagestan. This was told by the head of the settlement Ilyas Khaziev.

“The brothers went to the airport, today they have to bring the body. They will bury in their native village, in Kirovaul. If you manage in time today, then today we bury. Relatives have already arrived in the village, everyone has already gathered, of course, people will still gather, ”TASS quoted Khaziev.

Nurmagomedov’s health problems began in late April. He was delivered with pneumonia to one of the hospitals in Makhachkala, a few days later he was transferred to Moscow. For a long time, the condition of the 57-year-old specialist only worsened. In May, he twice fell into a coma and suffered a stroke, he also had to undergo heart surgery, which he had complained to doctors in the past.

At the end of June, Khabib Nurmagomedov said that his father was able to recover from the coronavirus, but he is still in intensive care under the close supervision of doctors because of the consequences of the infection.

“His situation is still difficult. He is in intensive care. But the coronavirus itself is behind. The virus left consequences. There with kidneys, heart, and still he is in a difficult situation in intensive care. But you can no longer worry about the virus, only there are its consequences. I am sure that he has some of the best doctors in the world. I have no doubt about this. Many thanks to them for their work. It just takes time. The consequences are very difficult, and the rehabilitation period will be difficult and lengthy, ”said Nurmagomedov Jr. in an interview with Channel One.

The UFC champion also said that Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov was not able to communicate, but reacted to his son's words that he continued to train and prepare for his next fights.

“I go to him, he recognizes me, but there is no communication, since he is under the devices. Every day they let me in, spend half an hour with him, hold his hand. When I ask if he recognizes me, he shows with his eyes, with gestures, that he recognizes me. I train every day, prepare in the morning and evening, because I know that my father would like me to be in good shape. He definitely wouldn’t like the fact that because of him I miss training. I am sure of that. And when I come, I tell him: "Father, I trained in the morning, in the evening I train, I am in good shape." A smile appears on his face, ”the athlete reported in June.

Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov from his youth was fond of martial arts. He was engaged in freestyle wrestling, judo and sambo. After serving in the army, he continued to train in Ukraine and was the winner of republican championships. With the collapse of the USSR, Nurmagomedov Sr. returned to his native Dagestan. World fame came to him with the beginning of coaching. He raised 18 world combat sambo champions, among whom were his brother Nurmagomed and son Khabib.

Nurmagomedov Jr. remains the main and most famous student of the coach. In mixed martial arts, he held 28 official fights and won in each of them. It was Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov who made his son the first UFC champion from Russia and ground him twice more to protect his belt. On September 19, Orel is expected to enter the octagon again and have a duel with Justin Gatji in Abu Dhabi. However, Khabib Nurmagomedov will have to prepare for the fight without his illustrious coach and father.
