  • The works, scheduled to last two and a half years, could start at the end of 2021.
  • The training center will integrate a women's section and the training center and could open to the public.

He had been very transparent at his first press conference in mid-June. He did not disappoint for his second outing on the set of the Pleine Lucarne show . Guest of TV Rennes, the new president of the Stade Rennais Nicolas Holveck did not evade the questions of our colleagues. Asked about the future of the Piverdière training center, which was questioned for a time that he moved out of the city, the president was clear: "We will soon launch the architect competition so the project is completely on track. We are going to regroup all the sites. The training center will come to La Piverdière, that's our priority ”.

Rather closed, apart from a few sessions accessible to the public, the training center should open up to the outside and expand. “We want to keep the spirit of the site with lots of green spaces. A project for the people of Rennes, which perhaps becomes a place on weekends where the people of Rennes could come to do some physical activity, "explained Nicolas Holveck, who hopes to see the work begin" at the end next year ”for an estimated duration of two and a half years. “The current part of the offices would be destroyed and rebuilt to provide accommodation, catering and school. The site would go from 12 to 20 hectares, "said the president interviewed by Vincent Simonneaux.

This project called "Piverdière 2" also provides a place for a female section. “There is a planned location. We will first create a school of women's football and develop it to bring a team into the elite. Maybe not up to the first division but up to the top level. ”

A new jersey presented on July 16

"Still at the hotel" while waiting to move in, the former deputy director of AS Monaco said that the new "home" jersey would be unveiled on July 16 before doing some teasing  : "It will be a reference to an important person for the city and for Stade Rennais ”. On social networks, some internet users imagined a tribute to the mosaic artist Isidore Odorico, who played from 1912-1925 and then chaired the Stade Rennais from 1931 to 1938.

Qualified for the preliminary round of the Champions League thanks to its third place in Ligue 1, the Breton club will be fixed on August 21. If the winner of the Europa League is already qualified for the Champions League via his championship, Stade Rennais will directly enter the group stage of the C1. A first for the Breton club.
