33-year-old Dick Axelsson, who has two SM golds and one World Cup gold on his track record, was the past season - despite missing the first two months - Djurgården's fourth best point picker, with 26 points in 31 matches.

His contract expired after the season, but today the club announced that they have signed a new contract with the forward.

- Dick has during his last two seasons been a leading forward for us with high offensive skills. He has also been an important informal leader in our team in the way he spreads joy and energy around him not least in his communication and relationship with other teammates, says sports manager Joakim Eriksson at the club's home team.

"What else would I do?"

Axelsson is happy to stay at the club.

- It's great fun to be back, what else would I do if I didn't play hockey, he says.
