The external investigation confirms the picture that there are major misconceptions within the Swedish Figure Skating Association. The report reveals that there is a culture of silence and children and adolescents report emotional, physical and sexual abuse.

- It is extremely sad that it is more widespread than we could imagine. It feels sad that so many things have not been done before. Now it has emerged and then it is easier to take action and see the extent of the problems. That's also why we ordered the report, says the union's chairman Katarina Henriksson to SVT Sport.

What responsibility do you have to the board that it could go so far?

- The board always has ultimate responsibility for the union's activities. Then we must ensure that associations and districts have the tools required to conduct a healthy business. Here we feel that we have not reached and we need to support more locally.

How do you see your responsibility as chairman of the board?

- As chairman, you are ultimately responsible for the business, so it is. But together we need to take responsibility regionally and locally to ensure that children do not do well in the future.

Candidate further

Although Katarina Henriksson's leadership as chairman of the board has been severely mistreated, she continues to serve as chair. It also does large parts of the other Board of Directors.

Are you the right people to lead the development and deal with the problems that exist?

- I can only speak for myself. But it feels completely wrong to jump off when something is in crisis, and where we are right now. It is very important that we can address these issues. After all, we have started this work and are now intensifying with the report. I think it's important that we make this clear.

You have known about the problems for several years. Have you ignored any misconceptions that have come in?

- The times we have received alarms on the board we have taken measures. When there are problems locally in an association, we have tried to support and help those involved to solve their problems.

Have you done enough, do you think?

- No, we have not because then the report would not look as it does. We need to do more and reach all the way to everyone so that we can operate healthy and safe environments.

"Should not occur"

What is it that tells you that you will do enough in the future?

- We need to have a closer dialogue and make sure that you follow the guidelines that exist and that will also be modernized how you behave when problems arise.

At the beginning of next year, it is planned that the figure skating World Cup will be organized in Stockholm.

Does this crisis affect the World Cup?

- It's very difficult to answer. The World Cup organization works as usual except they have corona problems. But what's sad about what's coming out now is that you can question figure skating in general, and it's really boring. There are many very good examples, which is also stated in the report, but this should not be allowed to occur.
