The final of the Danish cup tournament between Aalborg BK and SønderjyskE was temporarily suspended on Wednesday. A number of spectators did not follow the rules of the corona.
About five hundred supporters were allowed to attend the finals in Esbjerg under strict conditions. For example, they had to keep enough distance from each other, but early in the game it turned out that some of Aalborg's supporters did not keep to that.
Despite a number of requests, the fans did not return to their seats. The referee then stopped the game and the fans were kicked out of the stadium.
Once outside, the situation did not improve. The group hid outside the gates of the stadium and clashed with the police. In total, about fifty fans were arrested.
The final was won 0-2 by SønderjyskE. Anders Jacobsen scored both goals. Tom van Weert was the striker at Aalborg. Former Eredivisie players Rasmus Thelander (Vitesse), Lucas Andersen (Ajax) and Kasper Kusk (FC Twente) were also kicking off at that club.
