Jasper Cillessen will be dealing with a new trainer and a new technical director at Valencia. The orange city club sacked Albert Celades on Monday due to disappointing results.

Shortly after that measure was announced by club owner Peter Lim, technical director César Sanchez decided to resign. The former goalkeeper has only held that position since January.

Celades, 44, was employed by Valencia on 11 September last year, where the Spaniard succeeded his countryman Marcelino. He then signed a contract until mid-2021.

Under Celades' leadership, Valencia performed poorly after the corona crisis. Three of the five games were lost and only one victory was recorded.

Valencia is the current number eight of La Liga, which means that a ticket for the Champions League is far away. Last season, the team finished fourth behind FC Barcelona, Atlético Madrid and Real Madrid.

Cillessen lost his starting spot this season under Celades, partly due to an injury, but the goalkeeper of the Dutch team had his place in the team back quickly.

Valencia will be led for the rest of the season by assistant coach Voro González and in the meantime will look for a trainer for the new season.
