While the members of the citizens' convention on the climate are received on Monday at the Elysée Palace by the Head of State, here is an innovation which directly affects the transport sector. The startup HYDI has developed a module which makes it possible to reduce the emissions of the most polluting diesel engines.

To reduce pollution, much has been said about speed limits on the roads. Moreover, Emmanuel Macron receives, this Monday morning, the members of the citizens' convention for the climate. Anicet Mbida, you have found a device that reduces emissions from the most polluting engines.

We are talking about very large diesel engines. Those found on trucks, coaches, boats ... and which pollute a lot. The device will not only reduce consumption, but above all reduce pollutants by 25% and particle emissions by 70%. All this without changing the engine. By simply adding a module that will optimize its performance.

In fact, this module will inject hydrogen into the combustion chamber. This will allow the fuel to burn better. And therefore, to reject much less particles.

What does it mean that we will have to add a hydrogen cylinder to the vehicle?

No, a small two-liter water tank is enough. The module will convert it to hydrogen as it goes, before injecting it into the engine. It still takes up a little space. In fact, it could work on Monsieur and Madame Toutlemonde's car. But it would take up a good chunk of the trunk. While on a large truck or boat, it will be easier to stow. Especially if it saves money and it reduces pollution. We remind you: the law has become much more restrictive on polluting emissions from trucks and boats.

Is it still in the labs or is it already on the market?

It's been tested on trucks for a year. The winnings have been validated by the University of South Australia. So the marketing starts now. It is a technology developed by the startup HYDI.
