A tribute to Raymond Poulidor will be paid during the next edition of the Tour de France, assured Europe 1 director Christian Prudhomme. The Tour will take place in September and will pass through Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat where the former cyclist, who died last November, lived.

The 12th stage of the Tour de France 2020 will take place between Chauvigny (Vienne) and Sarran (in Corrèze), and will cross Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat, fief of Raymond Poulidor, who died at 83 years old in November 2019. The opportunity to return homage to the "eternal second", explains Christian Prudhomme, director of the Grande Boucle, who was always present on the roads of the Tour to encourage cyclists.

Passage to Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat

This Tour, unprecedented for health reasons, will also be the first without Poulidor, present each time and record holder of the number of podiums in the race, with three second places. "Raymond Poulidor is the famous glory without a yellow jersey, a legend in French cycling and sport, and even in our lives," says Christian Prudhomme.

"We will spend the month of September, in a stage from Chauvigny to Sarran - fief of the Chiracs, at his home in Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat, and we will obviously pay him tribute. I will also be in Chauvigny in a few days to inaugurate there a place Raymond Poulidor ", specifies the director of the Tour.
