We don't stop Manchester United anymore. The Red devils won widely at home against Sheffield United (3-0), thanks to a hat-trick from Anthony Martial, the first of his career in the Premier League. The last to have achieved such a feat in the Mancunian jersey is called Robin Van Persie (2013).
From the 7th minute, Martial cut well from a tense cross from Marcus Rashford at the far post, taking advantage of a very loose defense by the Blades (1-0, 7th). Just before the break, he doubled the bet by converting a center close to the ground of Aaron Wan-Bissaka (2-0, 44th). He finished his work with a stung bullet at the conclusion of an attack which had involved Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford. Thanks to this success, Manchester United are two lengths behind fourth, Chelsea, who have one game less.
Liverpool is almost there
There is almost nothing missing in Liverpool to become champion of England football for the first time since 1990. The formalization could take place on Thursday, if Manchester City does not leave Chelsea (4th) with three points. This coronation by proxy, in a way, would not detract from the merits of the Reds, who found their superb to have Crystal Palace (4-0), midfield team (9th), on the 31st day.
"I don't even know if I'm going to watch. The last time, I watched them and they won 3-0 "against Arsenal, joked a Jürgen Klopp very happy with the performance of his team, at the microphone of Sky Sports. "What the boys showed was exceptional," said the German.
Ironically, maybe Liverpool will secretly be hoping for a City win on Thursday. This would give them the opportunity to win the title on the next day, a trip to the Etihad Stadium, still, but probably no longer, defending champions.
